Winemaker's Note

Castel Grand Vin is an elegant and "classic" wine with deep color, intense and complex bouquet. Made from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% of Petit Verdot, the palate is silky and rich with deep black fruit, spices and soft but assertive tannins. It is a well-balanced wine that tends to be velvety and smooth, and the finish is long, silky and clean. The Grand Vin is aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels. Best served with dark meats, veal and steaks.

A very fine wine that still needs a few years cellaring--perhaps best to wait to enjoy until 2010 or so. Fruity bordeaux like taste with hearty tannins and plenty of fruit. A first class wine in all respects.

I really liked this wine, Very heavy though. Full Flavor, one of the best Israeli wines I ever had. Though, I think it is still a bit too young, it Should really age a nice few years for it's peak. But, even now it is excellent. I would rate it a 90 now.

Another excellent wine, as usual, from Castel. While this wine is strong enough to accompany any dinner, I find it also goes well with any rich chocolate desert, or on it's own.

Once again, an excellent effort from Castel. The 2005 is very fruity, well balanced, and can either be drank now or cellared. This bottle should improve after 5-6 years in the cellar. Highly recommended.
