General Information
Barkan Reserve Merlot is produced using hand-picked grapes grown in northern Galilee vineyards. The timing of the harvest is critical in order to achieve the precise balance of taste, color, and sugar. After fermentation the wine is aged for 14 months in American and French oak barrels. This reserve Merlot is full-bodied, dark, and balanced with rounded tannins and a bouquet of spice and berry flavors.

Disapponingly average. You can find better in this price range (I got it for $21)

I have a habit of writing down information on wines that I have enjoyed in the past. I have had “Barkan Merlot Reserve 1999” and found it to be a very good wine. “Barkan Merlot Reserve 2004” has proven to be just as good.
PS. I would love to get 2 or 3 bottles of 1999 Barkan Merlot Reserve.

I previously wrote a review on the 2002 vintage. Well, I got a bottle of the 1999 vintage, which should be a bit better having aged some, and it does not disappoint. The berry flavor is very enjoyable.

With a nice aroma and the richness of a Cabernet this merlot possesses nice fruit and a firm finish with appealing tannins. After trying the Barkan line I find this wine a great value.

A very good wine. I am not a big fan of the Merlot in general, however this one has a fine aroma and natures more rapidly than its cousin, the Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink well now, i give it a 88 out of 100.
