General Information
Aging for 18 months in small French oak barrels added lush vanilla and toast components.
Herzog Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon pairs exceptionally well with grilled lamb, roasted duck and rich stews. To retain its outstanding character only light filtration occurred and therefore sediment may appear as it ages.

Winemaker's Note
Remarkable for its complexity, supple texture and richness of flavor, this wine displays tiers of toasty oak, ripe plum, black cherry, wild berry, and spice.

This is an excellent bottle. I have had much better cabs from the napa valley though, like the Covenant, or Weinstock. But still this is a very good cab. I think that if it ages another year or two it will develop much nicer. Cellar it.

A very fine cab. Nice nose and fruit of berrys. Enough woodiness but not too much. Would drink now or within a year or two.

I had the non-mevushal version. This was quite a remarkable wine and I think it is superior to the Alexander Valley Cab.

Mevushal version. Very good flavors of dark fruit and chocolate with heavy oak flavors of vanilla and butterscotch. I still prefer the gentler Alex Valley version. Ease up on the oak!

This Cab is nice and fruity with strong tannins for a 5 year old. Blackberry, raspberry, plum, strong oak and hints of mushroom invigorate this good but perhaps overrated Herzog reserve. Probably could be aged a few more years.

Best wine I ever had. It is in a class by itself. It is full bodied yet, there is a quiet delicacy to it. Try it.

A very well-balanced wine, with a fine aroma of blackberries. Due to its full soft tannins, it'll age well for up to a decade. I give it a 89 out of a 100.
