General Information
Gamla Merlot was produced from Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Sauignon, all grown in the Golan Heights. The cool climate, rocky volcanic soil and high altitude are ideal conditions for growing these classic varieties. Aging in oak barrels, mostly French with a bit of American, rounds out the berry floral and spice characters in this approachable and elegant Merlot. To preserve the quality of the wine, this bottle should be stored on its side in a cool, dark place. Best served at 65 - 70 degrees.

I had this in my wine closet for at least six months; I somehow forgot about it. Cork was too moist; I had a difficult time opening it. That was the only disappointing part. A dry wine, medium to full body, basil was the only obvious tone I noticed, fruity otherwise. It's meant to enjoy, not to impress.

Ok but somewhat disappoining, nice finish but really short in the mid-palate. There are better choices out there.

This wine has a full bodied berry flavor. I previously reviewed the 2000 vintage. 2004 is just as good.

Fruity and smooth yet dry enough, a delicious merlot for the price.

I might have gotten a so-so bottle of wine. Sometimes they will vary depending on how they were shipped and stored. This one needed plenty of time to breathe before consuming. The nose was very much like a Tempranillo, very earthy and leathery. The taste is okay, although it is not one of my favorites by a long shot. In my opinion the wine was not blended well. I give it an 82-83 out of 100.

This wine has a nice bouquet. I noted a hint of cherry in the aroma.
A full bodied wine that is not overpowering, it has a nice fruity taste. A joy to drink, this is one of the best merlots I have had.

One of the best Merlots from Israel under $15.00. No bitter after taste; it's a real crowd pleaser!
