General Information
Ramon Cardova is a luxurious example of Spain's famous Rioja wines. Produced from 100% Tempranillo grapes, which are carefully selected from old vines surrounding the town of Haro, La Rioja. With its bright ruby red color, a nose of ripe wild berries and balsamic aromas, Ramon Cardova is ideal with red meat, fish, and soft, light cheeses.

Not as good as the 2003 but still an enjoyable wine worth trying.

This was the first Rioja I've tried, and I enjoyed it. I got a lot of taffy and plum from this wine- pretty interesting.

Spicy, complex, yet somewhat light (in a good way). Was good with chicken. Have not had a kosher Rjoja before. Was not disappointed. Will order again.

This is a very nice full bodied red to drink on cold days. It has a decent amount of oak (which I like), and is lightly spiced. Give it time to open up and you won't be disappointed.

As usual with this wine, balanced, smooth, and medium bodied. A very versatile red, which will go well with most meat or cheese meals.

A wonderful Spanish wine. At this price, I would rate this a 98 point wine. This happens to be non-mevushal (which is a plus!) unlike most wines at this price range.

A very nice, if somewhat on the light side, Spanish wine. Especially good with chicken and meat, it has a pleasing earthiness that goes well with many foods.

Strawberry and spice make this a delicious wine that goes down smoothly in nice quantities. Although it doesn't necessarily taste like a Rioja, it is still great for everyday drinking.

Very pleasant and aromatic. Nice color. Great introduction to Riojas. A nice example of Spain's ability to harmonize old and new world styles. Dark, juicy fruit and gentle spice with a deep finish. Very enjoyable with food.

I enjoyed this wine but it was not that remarkable. I am not familiar with Rioja so cannot compare it to others.

Good, even, taste - fruity with slight oak undertones. This is a wine that will reliably complement most moderate thru full-flavored meals, and does equally well with strong chocolate after a meal.

Wonderful Spanish red wine. Spicy, but not overbearing. Good aftertaste, not too bitter. A dark red color. Perfect match with the usual associates of red wine ... beef, lamb, etc., Excellent wine at a reasonable price, to be sure.

I bought this before the recent influx of Spanish wines, later to find out it was a classic. It was my introduction to the spiciness of the Tempranillos, and I still prefer its flavor & body to the Tierra Salvaje, which is also enjoyable. The Rioja is more complex, and deeper flavors can be isolated upon further tastings. That quality alone makes it a repeat purchase, but the fruitier (rather than heavy) taste combined with the extended durability of consistency makes for a popular choice for various occasions when the bottle will remain open & standing for long periods of time. It is a strong wine, but not so as to be off-putting to the less experienced. Enjoy it sporadically, as a contrast to lighter wines will benefit its character in bringing out the various taste sensations.

Very nice...good body, with a brilliant, deep ruby hue. Unlike many blended Riojas, the pure Tempranillo is less acidic and fuller bodied, fruity/spicy ... emitting slow, smoldering heat.

This is the new mid-price classic and a great introduction to dryer reds. This is a solid choice for Shabbat lunch with a bit more pizzazz than an Israeli or French varietal.

I was eager to try the 2003 vintage of this one -- and it didn't disappoint. Classic Rioja, soft, lush, well-balanced, lightly oaked. Nice finish. Equally good for sipping or with food. The rest of the tasting crew concurred!

This is an unmistakably Spanish red wine, with rich deep color, plenty of tannin and a long peppery finish. It is a terrific bargain at a price that makes it easy to enjoy often. Excellent with spaghetti and other pasta dinners whether pareve, milchig or flaishig.

This is a nice light summery red. This simple rustic wine has a woody bouquet, and a flavor of red cherries, cedar, and sandalwood, with hints of vanilla and spice. A nice wine to drink on a summer evening. Drink now and for the next year or so.

Dark red color with a somewhat flowery nose. Medium bodied with a spicy flavor and very little tannin. It did not have a strong leather taste as some Tempranillos have. Smooth and dry, very drinkable now. It smells much like a Cabernet yet tastes somewhat spicier with an aftertaste that is very dry and nice. I didn't think it would be as good as it is. A great change from the typical Cab or Merlot. It should be wonderful with pasta or fish made with tomato sauce. Very fairly priced. It does develop a slight aged leather taste and smell as it gets more air, yet retains its light to medium body and flavor. I give it an 85 out of 100.
