General Information
Petite Syrah was introduced to Israel via California in the 1960's. It is considered identical to the French variety Durif. The winery's vineyards, located in central Israel, produce a wine with a deep ruby color and an aroma of red plums and currants. Full-bodied with structured tannins, this superbly balanced wine has an elegant finish.

Vintage 2007
Recently tasted the 2005 and 2007 vintages and they were as good or better than the 2004 that I previously reviewed. Deep, dark color, lasting, satisfying but not overwhelming flavor - one of our favorite reds and still a great bargain at this price.

Very deep, near opaque, purplish-red. Full bodied, a lovely fruity aroma, dry, rustic, spicy cassis and dark berries. Full of character with a pleasant pungent finish. An exceptionally good value in its price range.

I have reviewed the 2002 and 2004 vintages. Now for the 2005 --
The plum flavor really stands out. In all, this is quite an enjoyable wine. I recommend it.

Vintage 2004
I previously commented on the 2002 vintage. The 2004 is not as good as I remember the 2002 to be, but it is still a very enjoyable wine with a good, strong fruity taste. It may be lacking a bit in the body.

One of the most satisfying, drinkable reds I have tasted in a long time. The sweet, tart, smooth finish leaves you looking forward to your next sip. This wine has a light aroma and a gorgeous ruby color.

This is an excellent wine and a terrific bargain at under $10. It is a big hearty red, strong fruit flavor, and yet has a smooth finish. Haven't had other petite syrah (same as sirah grapes?) but if this is typical then I'm a convert.

This wine was very pleasant after a bit of breathing, but even better the next day. No bitterness at all - just a smooth, fruity wine that one would never lump in the category of "typical kosher wines." Very nice.

Full bodies, yet refreshing, this wine has an excellent fruit taste. It is enjoyable with meals or by itself.

This is a very reasonably priced wine that we find an exceptional value. While it is full-bodied, it lacks any aftertaste and is one of the smoothest wines we have ever tried. It will stand up well to flavorful dishes and will complement fish or poultry quite well also.
