General Information
Leonardo Recanati's Italian heritage lies at the root of his passion for quality winemaking. In Israel the Mediterranean climate and ancient soils of the upper Galilee are well suited for the cultivation of fine Shiraz grapes. Rich and aromatically complex, Recanati Shiraz reveals layers of raspberry and plum intertwined with traces of spice, nutmeg and mocha. Its firm structure, robust flavors and smooth tannins make it a perfect match with roasts, grilled meats, tuna steak and spicier fare.

An aroma of rose petal leads to concentrated flavors of raspberry, cream and spice. There's plenty of iron and mineral on the finish.

Easy to like and easy to drink, this syrah is in the New World style: fruit-filled, rich, uncomplex, with a decidedly soft profile. It can be drunk now and will be enjoyable for another three or four years without really benefitting from aging.

As expected from the basic Recanati series--good, simple, and dependable.

I guess that I am in disagreement with most of the reviews here. I found this to be a very nicely balanced shiraz with plenty of berry notes and soft tannins. I liked it very much and think that it is a great bargain.

Ripe and supple, with black cherry, herbal and beefy aromas and flavors, those coming together with firm tannins and sweet cedar wood. On the long appealingly tannic finish, toasted bread and mocha.

Recanati Shiraz is a light to medium, easy-drinking table wine. It is reminiscent of a fresh house Italian wine one might find in a small inn or restaurant in central Italy. It should breathe or be decanted for several minutes before tasting. This wine develops greater subtleties in flavor by doing so. Of course, I like all wines to breathe a little and be decanted. This is a decent, dependable table wine that should go well with veal, chicken, or lamb. Drink it now.

I found this bottle to be a bit disappoining. It comes from a very good winery, and the Reserve version of this wine is a great bottle. This one, though, seemed out of balance.

This is a great cooking wine. I wish it was more drinkable because I love buying Israeli products. I found it a bit out of balance, compared to other Shirazes - just a tad TOO dry, just a bit heavier than the average Shiraz, and all in all just a bit over the edge. Ironically all those characteristics work quite well for use in the kitchen, and I actually prefer this Shiraz to burgundy for beef bourgignon.

This Recanati Shiraz disappointed me and a close friend who I shared it with. Coming from a distinguished family of quality vintners, this Shiraz was not very complex and lacked strength and finish. I don’t know why this Shiraz gave me such a bad feeling…maybe Shiraz and Syrah had best only come from the Outback.

This wine came in second place out of 6 at our amature kosher wine tasting. None of us know much about wine, but it was good.

Standard shiraz, more mellow than the Altona Hills competitor - less character. Decent for drinking but not a great shiraz.

I am not an experienced wine taster but I know what I like and this one is in my opinion a very good Shiraz. I'll be buying more of this one!
