General Information
Estate Bottled, appellation DO Valle Central of Chile. Bottled under natural cork. Non-mevushal.
Sol de Chile is elegant and robust. Its earthy aromas awaken your senses to hints of black currant and black cherry flavors. The wine reveals rich, mature tannins, good balance, and delivers a long, clean finish. Particularly pleasing with red meats, herb-seasoned dishes or aged cheeses.

Garnet colored, earthy aroma, smooth, with a simple yet pleasing construction, soft tannins and a pleasant, long, spicy finish.

Even when young, this is a good buy and holds up well with rich, full flavored meat dishes. The tannins are smooth; ripe dark fruit flavors are mouth-filling but the wine has a solid enough structure so that it is not jammy.

I don't know all the fancy buzz words to describe wine so I will speak plainly. This is a dry wine. It had a lovely aroma when I uncorked it but it really needs to breath for 20-30 min. The taste improved after that. I served it with meatballs, stuffed peppers and spaghetti to people who could not believe it was a kosher wine. It complimented the food very nicely. I got this as part of the wine club selection which was a worthwhile investment. The selections have been very good and have expanded my kosher wine hoizons. I will keep this on hand for impromptu gatherings.

I think that maybe Gedalia, above, got a bad bottle. This is a SUPERB wine, in color, body, flavor, tannins, character - every aspect. It's not often that a wine as robust as this has sufficient character to make it an enjoyable drink independently - with or without a contrasting meal. This wine added so much to our Shabbos table & meal that it enhanced the Shabbos itself many times over. The tannins don't overpower the grapes, yet the flavor doesn't water down the sturdiness. What a perfect balance for almost ANY wine drinker, for any occasion. Stock up on this non-mevushal wine for Purim (13.5% alc.), Pesach (OU-P) or just to enhance a simple Shabbos. To wrap it all up, the beautiful bottle makes it a great gift. What an excellent find!

I tried this cab because my choice Segals had been sold out. Frankly, considering its rating, it was disappointing. Although it was marginally acceptable it lacked body and color.
