Gedeon Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the foothills of the Judean Mountains, South and East of Jerusalem in Beth Shemesh. This wine features forward fruit along with toasted vanilla and tobacco notes from French Oak Barrels. Excellent with pasta, grilled meat, pizza or curry dishes. Best bet - open and decant at least a half hour prior to drinking and serve at room temperature.

Vintage 2010
This year’s vintage has a full raspberry flavor with a touch of spice. Still maybe just a small notch below the 2009 vintage. It is still very good and recommended.

Having reviewed three previous years of this wine, I can say that Gedeon has surpassed themselves with this vintage. The body is excellent. The taste is superb. This is what a cabernet should be.

Vintage 2006
OK. I sampled the 2002 vintage and then the 2004. Now it is time for 2006. This vintage seems to lack body, but it makes up for that with a good fruity flavor with a touch of spice. It is still very drinkable and very enjoyable.

This is a wine not for the meek. You MUST let this one breathe for at least 30-45 minutes. It is a very intreging wine that starts off very medicinal with a pallate of tabacco, later fruity when it is alowed to breathe! A very interesting wine experience.

The 2004 vintage is not quite up to the 2002, which I previously reviewed. Still, it is a very good wine -- bold and full bodied, just not as much of a fruity taste as 2002.

Vintage 2004
It is important to let this wine breathe before drinking it. It is a very bold, chewy, and chunky wine. The color is inky purple black. The nose is quite strong and very full of fruit. The wine should age well, as it is still somewhat young at this point. The overall character of the wine is very grapey. Believe it or not, 2 hours after I opened the bottle, the last half of it became quite sweet. The nose becomes candy-like, although there is a lot of an alcohol scent. The smell was at first slightly like diesel fuel, then it became more like acetone or ether. This is a very slight smell. The taste becomes very cherry like. There are tobacco and oak flavors as well. I would say more like a sweet chewing tobacco taste than a cigar flavor. I believe that this is one of those wines that will change flavors over time. It has the right qualities in a young wine that can mature into a superior wine. It reminds me of the 2002 Tzora Vineyards Cabernet. It is an excellent wine and should be even better in a year or two. I give it an 89-90 out of 100 with the potential for a 92-93.

Very smooth...lively on the tongue with a bit of bite...well balanced...pleasant...long finish...brilliant alizarin crimson hue...clear as the skies, warm as the heat and refreshing as the breeze of the Judean Mountains from whence it originates...a very enjoyable pick.
