General Information
51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot
This classic blend of Cabernet and Merlot exhibits notes of green pepper and a slight flavor of the fruits and berries grown in the region. All this is balanced by light oak and medium tannins which will allow this wine to peak in 3-5 years. Perfect now with medium to rich flavor entrees.

A pretty good wine, thats only after decanting and letting it sit for a while. I drink this during the week. For this price your getting a good deal.

Vintage 2003
I put 2003 in as a vintage but I'm not sure which one I tasted.
No way to say this other than this is a sub-par wine. It isn't a good effort by teal lake. A watery wine with a bitterness that runs in the background. the fruit tastes are very weak. an artificial plumb taste was foremost on my palate. an okay wine but not worth 10.99; maybe 5.99. the nose wasn't particularly good, either.

For the price, the Teal Lake Cabernet Merlot is a great everyday table wine. Tannins from the merlot are mellowed by the fruit of the cabernet. This slightly spicy and surprisingly mature wine can go a couple more years in the cellar, but is eminently consumable now.

I ran a blind comparison of this wine with Dalton Canaan Red 2004 and Dalton won hands down. It's not quite an apples/apples comparison because the Dalton has some shiraz, and the tasters picked up on this, The Teal Lake had deep ruby color, fine nose, but it was more harsh and had a bit of bitterness at the end. Not a bad wine, but not great.
