Not a bad wine, and a good value. There are nicer whites, but not very many at this price.

This is an excellent wine. The characteristic (and for me, unappealing) grassiness of the sauvignon blanc grape is blended away by the other varietals and the upshot is a very appealing lighter white - not sweet at all but not as dry as a typical chardonney, for instance. It is good to see Dalton declare independence from the California varietal tyranny and go back to the European style blends. As Dalton says, this is a wine to drink. We had it in our sukkah on a warm Indian Summer MI afteroon and it went quickly.

When I serve this wine I introduce it as “the best white wine I have ever had” – and I mean it. The perfect balance of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay with a mild and frosty White Riesling finish – the Canaan White makes other wines turn green with envy. One of the pleasant features of this wine is its meadowy openness. It is a wine whose subtleties are a joy to explore, like taking a stroll in an endless orchard, delighting in its fragrances and savoring its flavors. The White Canaan is the perfect complement to a pleasant summer eve.

Looking for a good, mevushal chardonnay this year, we came across this sauvignon blanc/chard/riesling blend. There is nothing we found objectionable about it (sauv blancs can get acidic or grassy - this one was neither), and it had enough chard character to work for us. Pear and apple flavors with a hint of oak. Light, not long, but pleasant finish. 85 on a 100 point scale.
