General Information
Leonardo Recanati's Italian heritage lies at the source of his passion for quality winemaking. Israel's ancient soil and a lengthy growing season provide Recanati with the perfect environment in which to nurture fine white varietals. Grapes for this full-bodied Chardonnay, handpicked from a choice single vineyard in northern Galilee, are soft pressed, vinified and aged in French oak sur lie for nine months. Recanati Chardonnay exudes delicate aromas that evolve on the palate into tropical fruit, concluding in a finish that recalls caramel and almonds. Enjoy with a variety of entrees, including fish dishes, pastas and light appetizers.

Whitley on Wine Newsletter   90 Points
"Yes, it's kosher. And, yes, it is very good. Lush tropical fruit notes, touches of oak (without the wood overwhelming the fruit) and a smooth, rich texture give the connoisseur all he could ask for in this style of chardonnay." (June 2, 2003)

Wine and Spirits Magazine
"Good Value! Dusty wood scents preface this wine's simple grape and oak flavors - sweet pineapple ending on a sandy oak tannin."

Update as of 2/09 - still too early to drink. Fairly harsh still - it was not at all the great experience that I expected from the 2003 vintage. Oh well.

I was a big fan of the earlier vintage but I think I just didn't wait long enough for this one. As of 3/08 it still needs time to mellow. The classic taste is there at the end of the swallow but before you get there you go past some harshness. It's not bad - but not terrific. I'll buy some more and be patient for a couple of years.

A good all-around white, though slightly more acidity than the 2004 means I'd make sure the bottle was well-chilled before drinking.

Smooth, crisp, and well-balanced. This is a remarkably versatile white that will complement a variety of dishes.

This is a very nice bottle, with a lot of fruit and very little oak, much closer to a Burgundy than to a New World Chardonnay. A delicious bottle, and excellent relative value.

Golden color, fine nose, classic "buttery" chardonney flavor, lingering after-taste. Full-bodied but not excessively so. Excellent chardonney and a great buy at $9.99. Drink now and probably for a few more years.

This light-golden colored, medium to full bodied wine is nicely balanced with delicate but definite hints of toasted oak, and rich aromas and flavors of citrus fruits, litchis, pineapples, minerals, vanilla, and a pleasant zing of spice. The acidity keeps it lively, fresh, and interesting. Drink now.
