Recanati Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2002
well balanced, heady, delightful red..long finish..astringent full bodied..good value..air and drink now or store...a mighty cabernet...buy this one.
Gedeon Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2002
Very smooth...lively on the tongue with a bit of bite...well balanced...pleasant...long finish...brilliant alizarin crimson hue...clear as the skies, warm as the heat and refreshing as the breeze of the Judean Mountains from whence it originates...a very enjoyable pick.
Alfasi Merlot
Vintage 2003
A Herzog boutique wine from the Chilean Maule Valley ...clean, smooth, well balanced, medium bodied red... fairly astringent, leaving a tingle in the cheek...develops well with air...slight hint of smoke and alcohol late in bottle...long finish ...piquant....a reliable conversation inducer and a good value - 87.
Noah Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2002
A smooth, pleasant, well balanced cab, its distinction and appeal may go well beyond its obvious qualities to something more esoteric. Grown in the Judaen Heights, this Abarbanel from Noah is produced near the cave of Machpelah... the spot which Abraham purchased from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place for his family...where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca and Leah are buried...the second holiest place in Judaism after the Temple Mount in Jerusalem...This is a wine that is truly "food" for thought.
Tierra Salvaje Cabernet Sauvignon Spain
Vintage 2001
Attractive Spanish red...slightly acidic yet well balanced with a nice sensation of prolonged heat in the attack ... A good value. 86
Hevron Heights Winery Jerusalem Heights Cabernet/Merlot
Vintage 2001
International award winner...Gold, Gold and Silver...Round, smooth, well balanced, elegant...91
Carmel Moscato di Carmel
Vintage 2004
A pleasant, fruity, semi-sweet, lightly effervescent spumonti-style muscato...low alcohol....a festive "family wine."
Tishbi Cabernet/Petite Sirah
Vintage 2003
an interesting wine...pleasantly astringent... fresh, fruity, lively - with a long persistence on the
palate ... desirable
Barons de Rothschild Back-Vintage Haut-Medoc
Vintage 2000
Classic Medoc, deep color, full body, noticable legs, pleasant, lacks character at onset but develops nicely..well balanced, low keyed, sophisticated, unostentatious, refined.
Ramon Cardova Rioja
Vintage 2003
Very nice...good body, with a brilliant, deep ruby hue. Unlike many blended Riojas, the pure Tempranillo is less acidic and fuller bodied, fruity/spicy ... emitting slow, smoldering heat.
Yarden Mount Hermon White
Vintage 2004
Fresh, perky, clean. Well balanced, good acidity, nice bouquet. Enjoyable.
Tishbi Cabernet/Petite Sirah
Vintage 2005
Less astringent than 2003, lacking tannins, nevertheless a very smooth, light, almost Beaujolais-like wine, round, easy, without significant character, yet pleasant... Slightly alcholic nose. Shomron Valley exclusive.
Ramon Cardova Rioja Blanco
Vintage 2003
Opened this bottle with high expectations and was very disappointed...it was rank from aroma to tase. My guess is that this was simply a bad bottle...cork seemed a bit loose. I say buy it despite this review...I'll bet this is a very good wine. Planning to open a second bottle to give a fair chance.
Golan Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2004
This 2004 vintage is quite drinkable as is...no aging required. Fresh. Clean. Tart. Refreshing. Invigorating. Clear ruby brilliance. Medium bodied. Smooth.Easy. Definitely worth tasting.
Ramon Cardova Rioja Blanco
Vintage 2003
This is a follow-up to the first review of this wine. This bottle, though from the same vintage, was noticably different... a definite improvement.
Ramon Cardova Rioja Blanco
Vintage 2003
Final verdict...after three reviews and giving it the benefit of the doubt...don't buy it. Two bottles out of three were not good. Last bottle tastes slightly turned with a hint of cheap perfume. Not good.
Tabor Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2002
Medium to full bodied, well balanced, dry, somewhat spicey, persistent flavour, long finish, satisfying.
Shemesh Moscato
Vintage 2004
Floral and fruity, semi-sweet muscato, light straw color, pleasant, summery, festive. Attractive design for wine label collectors.
Tabor Merlot
Vintage 2003
Aggressive in the onset but mellows quickly with air. Smooth, velvety, well rounded... fairly full bodied with good legs, and a deep, earthy carmine hue... Dry..just short of chalky. Peppery nose. Texture, aroma and sensation outweigh noticable flavor. Interesting. Its uniqueness is clearly that 100% of the grapes are from the century old winery at Kfar Tabor...a taster's microcosm.
Tzora Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2002
Very nice. Zesty, peppery, deep ruby shade, dry with good body. Pleasantly puckery, well balanced with a long finish. This wine is a good investment, selling at more than twice the price at many websites.
