A unique and fine wine made exclusively with Barbera grapes, whose aging in French and American oak barrels for 16 months contributes to its superb equilibrium of flavors. A flowery scent, black prune notes, with a bouquet that echoes coffee and chocolate scents, is balanced and accentuated with a slight fruity sweetness to the finish. Pairs best with pasta dishes, antipasti, and cold cuts.

The nose on this wine was filled with dry red cherries and sweet oak. The color was a dark ruby. I was honestly impressed with this wine, but more than all because I had little hope for Shiloh and the grape varietal, Barbera. The mouth on this medium plus bodied wine was dry red and black fruit, currant, a bit chalky, garrigue, and forest floor. The 2011 was throwing sediment and tasted like it was beyond peak at this point so drink up.

Strong body yet fruity, great combination, good acidity, different wine, worth trying it.

Not sure what other reviewers are tasting. This wine had a strong alcohol taste and was very unbalanced. Somewhat thin. At this price point there are many many better choices.

From the moment you pour this wine, you are treated to the loveliest color, aroma and soft yet deep floral notes. A real treat for the wine lover. Gentle enough to drink with fish, and flavorful enough to enjoy with meat or chicken.

I've had the 2009, 2011 and 2012. It is my wife's favorite wine and was "THE" wine that crossed us over from the mundane to the complex. It does have some sweetness so it is a perfect transition wine, but also a lot of complexity to maintain interest. It is best with red sauce based foods, but also tastes great on its own of with dark chocolate.
