The 2013 Yarden Katzrin Chardonnay is fermented and aged in new French oak barrels from the Golan Heights Winery in northern Israel. The wine's rich flavor and good acidity combine to create an elegant Chardonnay of great drinkability. The Chardonnay has an excellent buttery taste reminiscent of movie theater buttery popcorn. The wine is full bodied with great acid and finish. It's golden yellow color with a touch of sweetness is a really good balance. This vintage is very enjoyable with a delicious and lingering finish.

Fabulous. Ripe pears and pineapple, but a touch more acidity than the 2008.

I was surprised how light the oak was - I do not care for a lot of oak in my wines, and this was just enough. Not too sweet, not too dry, and it is quite good. Excellent value for the money, would not be ashamed to serve at my table. I would serve this with lighter fare such as grilled white fishes, salads, and cold dairy dishes. I say cold because I see this going better with a salad with grilled cheese pieces or feta chunks versus a hot dish like a fettuccine alfredo

Beautiful straw-golden color, nice fruit, somewhat heavy on the oak, but ovearall, a quality New World-style Chardonnay.

Yarden's Katzin Chardonnay 2004 of Golan Heights Winery was the only Israeli Wine to win the Gold Medal at Prestigious Chardonnay du Monde 2008 Competition. Therefore, I would suggest that the reader ignore my assertation that it was disappointing, somewhat musty and off flavor. Perhaps the bottle was a "lemon". Not terrible but not up to par with overall ratings.

Rich, ripe, concentrated and complex with generous layers of figs, tangerines, summer fruits and hazelnuts. Generous but not imposing oak on the finish makes it especially elegant as does a hint of butterscotch that comes in on the long finish.
