    How did Carmel Start?

Founded by Baron Edmond de Rothschild of the world-famous Chateau Lafite in Bordeaux, Carmel Winery has played a critical role in modern Israeli winemaking. In the 1890s the estate was one of the first pioneers to reintroduce commercial viniculture to the region and continued innovation and excellence across the past century has made Carmel a household name in Israel.

What is Carmel most known for?

In the 19th century Baron Edmond de Rothschild sent French grapevines and winemaking expertise to the estate and this early French influence has shaped the winery’s philosophy and approach to this day. Carmel is best known for their elegant and ageworthy Bordeaux-style wines which regularly win top international awards.
