Gewurztraminer is a white, aromatic grape. The aromas jump out of the glass, offering floral, and tropical fruit notes.  The wine is mostly produced in a semi-sweet style, but these wines can range from dry to lusciously sweet. Some of the most popular regions for this wine are Alsace (France), Finger Lakes (NY), and Germany. Kosher productions of Gewurztraminer can also be found in California and South Africa.

Given that Gewurztraminer can thrive in drier climates, Israeli wineries have made this one of the more popular choices for white wine productions. The semi-sweet profile of these wines make it an ideal pairing for spicy dishes (think spicy Thai foods) as well as dairy dishes.

The wines are approachable and with a touch of sweetness found in most Gewurztraminers it’s a wine that is enjoyed by novices and enthusiasts alike. Most Gewurztraminers are well priced offering customers good value. Some of the notable Kosher producers include Koenig, Yarden, Gush Etzion and Yaacov Oryah.
