Everything you need to know about Kosher Port

    How to Pronounce Port: poort

    What does Port taste like?

Port is a rich fortified red wine which is traditionally served during the colder months thanks to its opulent dried fruit and sweet spice character. On the nose there are typically intense cinnamon, dark plum, clove and baking spice aromas while the palate offers plenty of sweetness and a generous full body.

This unique style originated from Portugese wine makers that fortified their wines with grape brandy in order to better preserve them for their long shipments to Britain. This fortification makes for higher alcohol content and more residual sugar left in the wine.

You would like Port if you enjoy lusciously sweet wines with a bold flavor profile. Excellent pairings for Port include cakes made with dried fruits, chocolate-based desserts, and sweet poached fruit dishes. Port also makes a great alternative to dessert or can be served after dessert as a digestive.
