Barkan
One of Israel’s most successful wineries, Barkan has pioneered planting vineyards in areas of the Negev Mountains and Judean Hills as well as Galilee and Samson where they specialise in premium terroir-driven winemaking. Since its inception in 1990, Barkan has grown to become the second largest winery in Israel. With several new and better varietal vineyards at their disposal, they are able to make distinctive, high-quality wine that can be enjoyed both in youth and as they age. Every year, over 8000 tons of grapes are imported during harvest, which allows the winery to ensure their wine is made from only the highest quality fruit. A particular note of pride for Barkan wine is their Cabernet Sauvignon; indeed, their +412 and +624 varieties of have won prestigious international awards. Classic
These classic Mediterranean wines are made in a youthful, fruit-forward style which makes them ideal for sharing at weeknight get-togethers and casual family hangouts. Many people will also make Barkan Classic their wine of choice for weddings and other large events because of the quality for price and the variety within the line. This entry level line has varietals ranging from Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, to Petite Sirah and Argaman.

How did Barkan Start?
Founded at the end of the 19th century, Barkan underwent a renaissance in the 1990s following the construction of a sophisticated new winery at Hulda kibbutz on the Judean plain. In recent years the winery has flourished and built a reputation for crafting exceptional quality wines from some of Israel’s finest terroirs.
