Hayotzer Winery believes wine is art, and art is wine. Hayotzer, meaning “The Creator” is a nod to the winemaker as the artist being created for those who appreciate wine as a work of art. Hayotzer, currently brought to the US by allied importers, was founded by the Shor family, who began making wine in the Old City of Jerusalem in 1847. Eight generations later, Hayotzer has become an important piece in one of the largest family wineries in Israel.
Created to offer highly-affordable mevushal offerings for any table, the Vintner’s Select line includes the dry Hayotzer Vintner's Select Cabernet Sauvignon and, for those with a taste for an easy-drinking and moderately sweeter offering, the Hayotzer Vintner's Select Semi-Dry Cabernet Sauvignon.
Named after the Book of Genesis, this “beginning” offering from Hayotzer Winery offers quality at great value for the money. These wines are young, fruity, full-flavored with a refreshing finish. Offerings include Hayotzer Genesis Shiraz, Hayotzer Genesis Merlot, and Hayotzer Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon.
Utilizing French oak barrels, and presented in an attractive and unique bottle imported from France for this bottling, The Hayotzer Virtuoso line highlights the winemaker’s outstanding artistic “virtuoso” ability to turn the humble grape into a valued wine fit for your table. Hayotzer Virtuoso Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful, affordable option.
The Hayotzer Special Edition is a label for wines primarily for the quality wine market, including wine shops, hotels and restaurants. The wines are made from grapes grown in the Galilee and are aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. The Hayotzer Special Edition Cabernet Sauvignon is fruit-forward with good structure and represents excellent quality for the price.
The Hayotzer Lyrica label is the representation of the harmony associated to poetry, song, and music. The Lyrica line highlights Hayotzer’s Mediterranean grape varieties ideal for the Israeli climate. These include Syrah – thought to be ideal for the Israeli climate, Carignan – the historic variety of Israel, Argaman – a genuine Israeli variety, Grenache – a variety with a great deal of potential in Israel, and Mourvedre – an important variety in GSM blends. The winemaker, Philippe Lichtenstein, is the pioneer of the new interest in Mediterranean varieties and many are now following this trend. The Lyrica line includes Hayotzer Lyrica Meritage, Hayotzer Lyrica Poetry, Hayotzer Lyrica Syrah, and Hayotzer Lyrica GSM.

Hayotzer Winery was built as a boutique branch of the Shor Family Winery, founded in 1847 in the Old City, Jerusalem. This is the first recorded winery in Israel, and eight generations later remains one of the largest family wineries in Israel.
Combining 175 years of winemaking experience in Israel with deep knowledge of terroir has led to the creation of Hayotzer Winery, under the direction of French-born winemaker Phillipe Lichtenstein. This family-owned winery believes that wine is a work of creative art representing the person who made it and the place where it is grown.
