Kedem winery was founded by Eugene Herzog who moved to America with his family after the Holocaust and found a job making kosher wine for a small New York winery. Eugene’s family had been making wine for generations, going back to Philip Herzog whose wines were so appreciated by the Emperor Franz-Josef that he made him a baron. Eugene and his family were soon able to purchase the winery and today it is run by his descendants who continue to make delicious kosher wines in New York’s Hudson Valley.
These delicious sweet kosher wines are crafted from top quality New York Concord grapes and are ideal for the Passover seder and festive occasions.
Bursting with ripe fruit and luscious sweetness, these traditional kosher wines are perfect for Shabbos or Passover celebrations.
Kedem was founded by Eugene Herzog who emigrated to the U.S. with his family after the Holocaust in 1948. The Herzog family had been making wine for generations in Czechoslovakia, so it was only natural that Eugene began working at a small kosher winery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. In 1958 Eugene was finally able to buy the company and start producing kosher wines under the Kedem label.
Kedem wines are crafted from top quality grapes grown in New York State and the winery itself consists of 35 acres of prime land in New York’s Hudson Valley. All of their wines are produced to the highest of standards under the supervision of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America.
