Founded in 2003 in Israel’s exceptional Binyamin wine region, Psagot is a thoroughly modern winery set in a landscape with an ancient tradition of viticulture. While the winery was being built a large cave was discovered on the property along with a coin dating back to the First Jewish–Roman War which took place from 66-73 CE. Today that ancient coin is the emblem of Psagot Winery and the cave is once more in use as a cellar to store precious barrels of wine.
Psagot is today regarded as one of Israel’s top boutique kosher wineries thanks to its exceptional terroir and a talented winemaking team led by Yaakov Oryah and Joshua Hexter. The vineyards are primarily planted on chalky mountainous terraces at an altitude of 700-900 metres above sea level which helps to achieve optimum ripeness and plenty of freshness in the grapes at harvest.
Psagot Sinai is Psagot’s entry level wine and by far their most widely sold wine. It’s aromas and flavors are lucious, yet not overly complex, making it a very appealing wine to a broad audience. It’s also a great quality wine for the price!
Psagot Cabernet Sauvignon is the winery’s flagship red wine and makes an excellent addition to any collector’s cellar thanks to its intense full-bodied and ageworthy character.
Psagot Edom is predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon along with smaller proportions of other Bordeaux varietals which give the wine an opulent dark fruit profile with smooth tannins and a long finish.
Psagot Merlot is aged for 13 months in oak barrels to add subtle oaky hints to the luscious cassis, blackberry and dark cherry fruit flavours.
Psagot Rosé has a gorgeous pale pink hue and enticing aromas of strawberries, pomegranate and lemon zest which make it the ideal refresher on a hot day.
